What actually wears out in a uPVC window
The frame copes with the heat; the working parts hidden inside it do not
Heat is the main culprit. A rubber seal goes hard, shrinks back and stops pressing along the edge, while the multi-point gearing that holds the sash top and bottom eventually gives up or slips out of line.
So the complaints arrive in a familiar order: a handle that turns and holds nothing, a sash that catches on its way shut, a grey line of dust along the edge, a pane gone cloudy from the inside.
None of that means buying a new window. Handle, locking gearing, hinges, friction stays and seals are separate items, and each one lifts out on its own.
Doors get the same treatment, only they carry more weight, so they sag further and need the hinges and the keeps brought back onto one line before the door sits in its opening properly.

From the first check to a window that locks
Every visit runs in the same order, and you hear the price before any work starts
Diagnosis. The technician works the handle, opens the sash and goes over the gearing, hinges and seals, looking for the part that has actually failed rather than the one that is easiest to blame.
The figure. You get a fixed price on the spot and decide for yourself; the trip and the check cost nothing either way.
Parts. Handles, locks, hinges and seals in everyday sizes travel with the technician, so most jobs close on the first visit. If the job needs glass cut to size or a less common mechanism, we order the part and come back once, briefly.
Repair. The worn item comes out, a dropped sash is lifted back into place, and the keeps are moved a step at a time until the sash sits square in the frame.
The result. The handle moves freely, the window locks without effort, and the work we did carries a 2-year warranty. If a window really is past saving, we say so plainly instead of dragging out the repair.

After the last sandstorm, I noticed fine sand on the windowsill even though no one had opened the kitchen windows. The technician explained that the rubber seals had hardened from the heat and lost their elasticity. Replaced them with new ones, and now even after sandstorms, the sills stay clean.
