Most of it, not all. The airborne part, which is the majority of what you hear from a site, is what seals, acoustic glass and an inner panel take out. The heavy thud of piling also reaches you through the ground and the building frame, and nothing fitted to a window reduces that. We say on the assessment which share is which.

Road noise is low-frequency and carries upward, so height alone will not save you. Sealing comes first, then either an acoustic unit in the existing frame or a second internal pane with an air gap behind it. Against steady drone the air gap is usually stronger, and we confirm which after listening in the room.

Not for the facade, because none of this is visible from outside or attached to it. Business Bay towers do want a pass arranged a day ahead and, for the fitting visit, a booked service lift, since glass units travel up on a trolley. Give us the floor when you book, and we work to your tower's permitted hours.

We are on Sheikh Zayed Road in Al Barsha, roughly 15 minutes up the highway, and we aim for about a 30-minute response on urgent calls, traffic permitting. Sealing is normally finished on the first visit. Made-to-measure glass or an inner panel needs a measure, then a fitting appointment once it is built.

Highway drone or site noise? Quieted from inside.

District noise
Two noises, and what glass can reach
Almost nothing here is a villa. Business Bay is stacked towers along both banks of the canal, so the glazing is the one barrier you control and the facade is not yours to alter. Every option below therefore goes in on the room side and comes out cleanly if you move. How each method works is explained on our window soundproofing page; this one is about what those methods face at a Business Bay address.
Continuous highway drone
The district lies in a corridor with Sheikh Zayed Road down one side and Al Khail Road down the other, and what those roads produce is continuous and low in pitch: engine load, tyre roar on hot asphalt, the drone of night freight. Low frequencies are the awkward half of this job. They shrug off a thin single pane, exploit any perimeter that has opened up, and climb, so a high floor here is often no quieter than a low one.
Percussive site noise
The second noise comes from the plots still being built, and it is percussive rather than steady: piling, breakers, a skip dropped onto a slab, reversing alarms from trucks queueing at a site gate before the heat arrives. Most of its energy sits in the middle and upper range, the part that seals and laminated glass remove well. The same apartment can be easy to quiet for one complaint and stubborn for the other, and what we recommend depends on which keeps you awake.
A local wear pattern
Summer heat plus the coarse grit lifting off active plots ages the soft parts of a window faster here than in a settled community: gaskets stiffen and shrink back from the corners, brush pile in a balcony track mats flat under trodden sand, and a slider that no longer pulls itself tight has quietly stopped being an acoustic barrier. Plenty of the apartments we assess here have nothing wrong with the glass. They have a hairline perimeter that has opened around a sash, and it has been letting the highway in all year.
Airborne noise, the part we work on
This district forces an honest distinction, and we make it before quoting rather than after invoicing. Glazing acts on airborne noise, the kind that arrives through the air and the gaps around it.
Structure-borne noise, which glass cannot touch
Glazing does nothing for structure-borne noise, which arrives through the building. Piling on a neighbouring plot drives vibration into the ground and your tower's frame; chillers on a podium roof, a lift shaft, a plumbing riser and footfall on the slab above all travel through concrete. No pane, seal or inner panel touches any of that.
A test you can run before we arrive
Shut every window and door, then listen. Whatever drops away is airborne, and that is the part we work on. Whatever holds its level, especially a thud you feel underfoot, is structural, and a window is not its cure. We would rather say so on a free visit than sell glass that cannot deliver.
What the work includes, and what it costs
How these prices work
These are standard list prices, fixed and inclusive of labour. Square-metre rates are worked out over the whole window area including the frame, and a minimum chargeable area applies to small windows.
Sealing, always first
Seal restoration is AED 20 per m², and sealing a window is AED 100 per window. On a canal-side balcony slider this step earns its money twice, because the work that closes an acoustic leak also shuts out the site dust. It settles whether new glass is needed at all.
Adding mass to the glazing you own
Where the existing sealed unit can take it, a 6 mm pane added to it is AED 450 per m². Two panes of different thickness stop sharing a resonance, which is what the low-frequency drone exploits.
Acoustic sealed units
Swapping your unit for an acoustic one inside the frame you already have is AED 1,200 per m². A plain replacement unit, where the glass has fogged and noise is the secondary complaint, is AED 1,000 per m². Complete soundproof double-glazing is AED 3,150 per m², which applies where the frame changes with the glass, not to a straight unit swap.
A second internal pane
Not a list item, because the panel is built to your reveal and no two are alike, so it is measured and quoted free on site. It is the option we reach for most often against constant road noise, and the one building management and landlords accept without discussion.
Perimeter and junction seals
Where the leak is at the frame-to-structure junction rather than the pane, perimeter waterproofing is AED 100 per m², and on curtain-walled floors facade glazing seal replacement is AED 100 per linear metre.
Replacement, rarely
If a frame really is finished, glazing in uPVC or aluminium is AED 2,800 per m², a slim-frame sliding portal system AED 5,400 per m², and dismantling and installation AED 550 per m². We raise it only when leaf, hardware and seals have failed together. A noise complaint by itself has never been a reason to take a window out.
How a visit runs in a Business Bay tower

Every address here is high-rise, so the job starts at the security desk rather than your front door: most towers want a pass registered the day before, and the technician arrives with a tool case.

Measure, then fit
Soundproofing adds something an ordinary repair does not need: glass. Acoustic units and inner panels are built to your exact opening, so the work splits into a measuring appointment and a fitting appointment, and the second needs the service lift reserved. An acoustic unit weighs noticeably more than the plain one it replaces, so say whether deliveries go through the residential lobby or a separate service entrance.

Timing and a fixed price
Time the assessment to the noise rather than to your diary. Site work near here begins early, so an early slot tells us far more than a calm midday one; if the highway drone is the problem, we listen in the evening instead. We take calls around the clock, and from our office on Sheikh Zayed Road in Al Barsha the technician is usually with you inside about half an hour on an urgent job. Drilling for an inner frame stays within the hours your tower permits. Nothing we install changes the exterior, so there is no facade approval to wait on and no Owners Association submission, which is why this work moves quickly here. The price is measured and fixed before a tool comes out.
